SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA (FOR INCOMING VA FRESHMEN ONLY)
A. All required information submitted should be an original copy.
B. Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation:
one from a high school principal, guidance counselor or teacher.
and one from a coach, minister, youth director, or employer.
C. Applicant must submit an official copy of his/her high school transcript.
D. Applicant must submit an essay describing his/her ambitions and goals, as well as, what he/she would hope to contribute to society through educational training received from South Carolina State University. The essay should contain a minimum of 100 words, but it should not exceed 300 words in MLA Format. Please do not include your name on the essay.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
A. Applicant should attend a high school in Virginia and must be accepted
for matriculation at South Carolina State University.
B. To receive the award, the applicant must enroll at South Carolina State University the semester immediately following the announcement of the award.
C. In the event of conviction of any immoral or criminal offense, or if the recipient does not enroll, the recipient loses all rights and claims to the scholarship money.
D. The scholarship will be paid directly to South Carolina State University to be applied to the recipient’s account.

Have your guidance counselor provide you with a letter that includes the following information: His or her name and position, phone, Name of high school, address, dates you attended, Grade Point Average, class rank, number in class, ACT Composite, SAT Reading, SAT Math, SAT Writing and any additional comments (please be very specific).
  14. By signing this form, I give my permission to the SC State University National Alumni Association’s Central Virginia Chapter to use my name, and my area of study on its website and social media accounts without limitation, for recognition purposes, without further permission or compensation. I also understand that the Central Virginia Chapter strives to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with respect to its scholarship recipients, and that my information will not be sold, traded, or exchanged by the Central Virginia Chapter.
